Seasons of the River, book two of the Slavic urban fantasy A Town Called River by Igor Rendić, hits virtual shelves today! Paul’s adventures continue in this action-packed sequel, filled with friendship, love, duty, and looming darkness. Because, from summer to the fall, a krsnik’s job stays the same, and his town needs protection from magical threats.

The ebook is now available at various retailers, and the paperback release is a bit delayed. We’ll share more info on that with time.

Becoming a krsnik, a magic user from Slavic myths which have turned real in the streets of Rijeka, was not what Paul expected upon his return to his hometown, but an intense first few days in his new role in A Town Called River helped him settle into his newfound life as the town’s protector.

Now a new threat looms over his town, growing ever larger and more dangerous, ready to wreak havoc once it spreads out from the river’s canyon in the hills. Conflicted  about his private life and his duties as a krsnik, fixing issues big and small, making enemies and dangerous allies along the way, Paul will have to solve the mystery while balancing the weight of his new responsibilities.

As the seasons change and summer sweeps over the horizon once more, Paul and his friends may just find themselves facing a battle they can’t win… a battle that their town cannot afford to lose.

Cover Reveal: Seasons of the River

With a change in the season, going from summer to fall (with the fall equinox just at the corner!), we bring you a first look at the glorious cover of the Seasons of the River, book two of the Slavic urban fantasy trilogy A Town Called River by Igor Rendić.

As was the case with book one, the cover was done by the talented Korin(a) Hunjak. Their work always amazes us, with finding cool details, using beautiful colors, and teasing what’s to come. Check out their website to find other great works, including comics, and we want to use the moment to congratulate them on recently publishing their book Brodski dnevnik, a collection of their comics, and receiving the Artefakt award for one of the comics in the collection! Congrats!

Yes, our first anthology of short speculative fiction, inspired by Slavic folklore and mythology, Slavic Supernatural, is now available in both ebook and paperback format, and is waiting for you to pick it up.

It collects eleven tales of death, winter, seasonal changes, ecological musings, revenge, obscure rituals, old gods, and adventure. And quite appropriately, here in the Shtriga HQ in Croatia, we currently have a new cold wave with inland blizzards and bora storms on the coast. And it’s the cover reveal of our first anthology! It’s beautiful, eerie, and dark, just like the stories in the book. Can you guess which Slavic goddess was the inspiration behind it?

The cover was illustrated and designed by the talented Antonio Filipović, with whom we have a great collaboration. We love his eye for detail, exploration of the subject matter and symbolism (just look at the old hands!), and the way he can convey the atmosphere from the book into the visual medium. We’re very grateful for his work.
